About Coco

I'm Coco Gills—writer, audiobook narrator, and a lover of people, connection, and the work it takes to really show up for one another.

I write women's contemporary fiction about friendship, identity, and the quiet, complicated ways we grow into ourselves. My debut novel, The Chapters Between Us, is a love story about friendship—about chosen family, evolving identities, and the bonds that shape us long after the early chapters of adulthood have passed. It follows three friends, Amara, Lainey, and Reese, as they navigate motherhood, loss, reinvention, and the moments that test whether love alone is enough to keep people together.

I'm drawn to stories that feel lived-in: warm but honest, tender but unflinching. Stories where women are allowed to be messy, funny, overwhelmed, and honest about what it takes to stay connected. I write for anyone who has ever craved deeper connection or wondered how their closest relationships survived—or didn't.

When I'm not writing, you'll usually find me in the kitchen experimenting (my short ribs are non-negotiable), curled up with a good book, or wrangling my own cast of characters at home.

I believe the best stories feel like community—like being seen, held, and understood. That's the kind of story I intend to tell.
